Additional general notes on the memorial
With the formation of the new Royal Corps of Transport, a new saint had to be chosen to represent it. St. James the Great, closely associated with transport by land and sea, and with all the qualities of a valiant Christian soldier, was dediced to be the most suitable saint.

The cities depicted on the memorial are chosen for their connection with the Corps.
