Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He had been a Territorial in the King's before he was called up in August 1914, hence the memorial's error: he served in the MGC. He is also commemorated on IWM 2738 and 2603 and his biographical, service and death details as they found them are shown on the latter.
