Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married to Hannah Maria and they had 2 children. He had been in the St John's Ambulance Brigade for 12 years so, when he enlisted in September 1914, he served on the hospital ship Oxfordshire: he died of a cerebral haemorrhage at sea off Durban. He is also commemorated on IWM 2738 and 2742.
