Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, worked in Brighouse and enlisted as one of the Brighouse Chums in 1914. He was wounded twice before dying, presumably of a third wound, in a Canadian Casualty Clearing Station. He is also commemorated on IWM 2738. His brother, William, was also killed on 3/7/17 serving as a Private in the York and Lancaster Regiment but was not found to have been commemorated on any Calderdale Memorial that Hornshaw and Fowler catalogued.
