Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Educated at Rugby, Wye College and the University of London, he had taken up an appointment with the Sudan Government Service before he enlisted into the Brighouse Chums (a Battalion of the Duke of Wellington's) in 1914. He transferred to the MGC ahead of the Somme and died of a wound incurred the previous day. This was the only Calderdale memorial that they worked on upon which he is listed.
