Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was working as a silkdresser in a mill before, as an ex-Regular with 7 year's service, he was called up when war broke out. He went missing on Hill 60 and, although was not found by them to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial, he is named on the Menin Gate.
