Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. The brother-in-law of Fred Wilde, also commemorated on this memorial, he was married with 5 children and played cricket for Pecket Well Cricket Club. As an ex-Regular, having served in both India and the Boer war, he re-enlisted in October 1914 only to be killed at Hill 60 and so is also commemorated on the Menin Gate as well as IWM 2850, 2853 and 2854.
