Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. A twisting overlooker at a mill, he enlisted in October 1917 and was drowned on his first voyage when HMS Lady Cory Wright was in action with a U Boat in the Channel. He is also commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial as well as IWM 2606.
