Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail but were unsure as they stated that two Wilfred Binns's were reported as having been killed in the local press (Halifax Courier) on 5th December 1916, one named as Wilfred B (but no further details were given) and this one. The CWGC lists only this Wilfred Binns so it is assumed to be him: that it seems to have taken a year for the press to report his death suggests not uncommon confusion or a lack of perfect information. If this is correct, he was working in Middlesbrough, but living in Halifax, and married to Ruth before he enlisted in September 1914. He is also commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
