Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Unmarried, he worked in Halifax until he enlisted in October 1916. He died of wounds to his arm and abdomen in a casualty clearing station. He is also commemorated on IWM Memorial 29390 as he attended Crossley and Porter School. His younger brother, Ratcliffe, is also commemorated on this memorial and the one at the school.
