Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. His father was the landlord of the West End Hotel and he left school in 1910. He suffered a shrapnel wound, was sent to a dressing station but never arrived. A message of love was received from a Madge upon his death: he is also commemorated on IWM Memorials 2587 and 2725.
