Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was originally from Pembridge in Staffordshire and was married with 6 children. He was struck on the head whilst guarding a railway tunnel at Hullavington, Chipping Sodbury - the press speculated he was struck 'probably by a spy' - and died in hospital. He is also commemorated on IWM 2224 and 2660.
