Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked in a mill, was married with a child and was a member of the Liberal Club billiards team. However, he was also a Territorial and so was presumably called up early in the war. He died in the Dardanelles according to the press even though he died of wounds and is buried in Malta: he may have died whilst transferring to Malta. He is also commemorated on IWM 2224, 596 and 2641. The date of his death was given as both the 9th and 14th of June, 1915.
