Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, to Ada, and worked in a paper works before the war. He was killed by a sniper at La Bassee and is also commemorated on IWM 2626. His brother, Ralph, also died in 1918 but is not commemorated on a Ripponden Memorial, only the Calderdale Lists held in Halifax (IWM 2689).
