Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married to Annie and they had 3 children, one of whom was George who died in WW2 and is also commemorated here. Thomas was working as a steward at Midgely Working Men's Club but, as a regular with 14 years' service, he was called up in August 1914. He went missing that month at Mons. He was first reported to have been hit whilst going to the aid of his Colonel and then reported to be buried at 217 Chemin de Epriette: finally, he was buried at Hautrage Cemetery. He was not found by them to be commemorated on any other Calderdale Memorial.
