Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was originally from Southowram and was the son of a vicar. Educated at Heath School in Halifax and then Leeds University where he studied medicine, he initially joined the RAMC before being transferred. He died of enteric and is also commemorated on IWM 2860.
