Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as a draughtsman in Manchester but has been a Territorial since 1907 and so was called up, crossing to France in April 1915. He was wounded in the mouth and then killed as he was treated when the dressing station received a direct hit. He was the brother of Percy, who is also commemorated on this memorial, and this was the only memorial in Calderdale the brothers were found on.
