Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. A mill worker who was engaged to a Miss Hackney but, as a Territorial, he was called up in August 1914. He was killed by shellfire at Crucifix Corner. He is commemorated on IWM 29392: his brother, Arthur, had been killed in May 1915 but is not commemorated on this memorial.
