Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Married, to Edith Mary, with a son, he enlisted in April 1917 and served in Italy, Mesopotamia and Egypt. They noted that the press reported him as having died in Alexandria of malaria but, given his burial place, that this seems unlikely. His brother in law, Arnold Nutton, was also killed in WW1, and is also commemorated on this memorial.
