Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. A married man whose wife appealed for information about his death but none was forthcoming. He is also commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Given his date of death and the many losses the regiment suffered on that day, it seems possible he died along with them attacking the Schwaben Redoubt.
