Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He left school in 1906, worked for a brewery in Shibden Valley outside Halifax and then emigrated to Vancouver where he enlisted in August 1914. He developed heart trouble in July 1916 and was invalided to the Canadian Convalescent Camp in Epsom, dying there at the Manor War Hospital of a heart attack almost 2 years later without returning to the front. His parents buried him in Cardiff where they were living.
