Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, to Lily Ann, and they had 3 children. He worked as a window cleaner but, as an ex-Regular, he enlisted in August 1914 only to die in hospital of what was said to be 'neuritis' in the press but which may well have been nephritis. This was the only Calderdale memorial they found him named on.
