Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was married, to Mary Jane, and they had a child. He worked both as a weaver and farmer and enlisted in July 1916, crossing to France that December. He was killed by shellfire and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial as well as IWM 2851.
