Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail. A violinist for the Halifax Orchestral Society who also worked in an office, he died of gas poisoning - on the same day and on the same Hill 60 as Percy Taylor, also commemorated here. Some press reports gave his name as Tinkler.
