Ged Martin (see References) offers this brief biography: ‘Lieutenant Richard Walmesley of the Yorkshire Regiment was killed by a sniper's bullet on the Ypres salient. Like Lloyd an Etonian, he had entered Magdalene in 1908 and had devoted much of his time at Cambridge to hunting, joining the Regular Army two years later.'
