Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide some of the extra details and CWGC confirm regiment and correct the date of death to 14th not 4th. He is also commemorated on IWM 2719. He was married with 2 children and worked as a butcher for the Co-Op before he enlisted in November 1916. Where he was killed is a matter of conjecture: the press said Mesopotamia but Hornshaw and Fowler also found evidence pointing to Southern Russia which they found more likely. He is named on the Tehran Memorial according to the CWGC.
