Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as a warehouseman before he enlisted in January 1916, He was invalided home from France in 1916 but obviously returned to the front as he was killed by a sniper as he brought up rations the following year. He was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial that they catalogued.
