Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He worked as a coal merchant but, as a Territorial, was called up in August 1914. He served in Egypt, the Dardanelles and France and died of multiple wounds in a casualty clearing station. He does not appear to have been listed on any other Calderdale memorial.
