Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He had worked as a furnace tenter before the war but had been a Territorial for 3 years as well. His mother died of a broken heart 2 weeks after she heard of his death and he was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial. Despite being in the same regiment, having the same rank and even dying on the same day, he and Herbert who is also listed here were found to be different men.
