Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. Originally a Londoner, he was married with twin sons and worked as a labourer. However, as a Territorial he was called up in 1914 and was killed by a direct hit on his dugout. He was not found to have been commemorated on any other Calderdale memorial. His age was given as both 42 and 44 in the press at the time.
