Notes
The Roll lists him as being 'of Peterborough'.

(When he enlisted, this man was living in Castor, on whose memorial he is commemorated, but a local press report re his death misleadingly implied that he was of Peterborough, which resulted in him being included on this Roll of Honour. [He had initially been included on the draft of the 1921 version of the Peterborough Roll, but that entry was crossed through/deleted on the final version of it once the error re his address was realised]. CWGC records that he died aged 31 on 16/2/1916, and is buried in grave A.17.22 at St Sever Cemetery in Rouen, France; they record him as the son of Mr & Mrs H Crane of Kirstead, Brooke, Norwich, and the husband of Harriet Crane of Bampit Row, Weston, Spalding, Lincolnshire).
