Arthur's birth certificate records that he was born on 8/7/1892 at Padholme Road in Peterborough, as the son of Charles Thomas Wyman and Agnes Mary nee Southwell. On the 1901 census he was living with his widowed father at 1 Moulton Cottage Gladstone Street in Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was a barman at the Crown Hotel in Peterborough. He was listed on the ship's manifest of the "Tunisian" that left Liverpool on 24/4/1914 bound for Quebec.

He was reported to have been killed by a gas shell during the Battle of Canal du Nord and taking of Bourlon Wood. The report mentioned that in September/October 1918 the Daily Graphic had published a letter he had written regarding operations at the Drocourt-Queant Line).
