Notes
The Roll lists his regimental number as 10475, and address as 22 Gladstone Street. (It also records the death of his brother James Wright). It omits any mention of Archibald's entitlement to a gallantry award, and wrongly states that he died on 9/10/1918.
(CWGC records that Private A. Wright M.M., regimental number 3/10475, died on 13/6/1918 serving in the 2nd Battalion of the Northamptonshire Regiment, and is now buried in grave 1533 at Vitry le Francois French National Cemetery in France, having been reinterred after the War.
Soldiers Died in the Great War records that Archibald Wright M.M., regimental number 3/10475, was a native of St John's parish in Peterborough, and that he died of wounds on 13/6/1918. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that he died of wounds in France, and that his legatees were Richard & William Wright, Elizabeth Adams, Salome Plowman, Sophia Freeman, Sabina Meadows and Emma Lockwood. [These were all recorded on earlier census as Archibald/Archie's siblings]. His Medal Index Card records that Archibald was sent to France on 18/3/1915, that he died of wounds on 13/6/1918, and that the address for correspondence was his brother Mr Wright of 38 Bright Street, Peterborough. [Archibald's brother Richard Wright was living at that address on the 1921 Census].
On the 1901 census "Archie Wright", aged 4, was recorded as the son of William and Sarah Wright at 63 Percival Street in Peterborough, which was given as his place of birth. On the 1911 census he was aged 14, living as their son at 31 Westwood Street, Peterborough.
The award of his Military Medal was published in the London Gazette on 18/10/1918: Supplement 30962; Page 12419).
