Notes
The Roll lists his address as 60 Eastgate. It inaccurately records him as "Frederick W Wesson"; his legal name was actually Fred Wesson, and he was recorded as such in both civilian and Army records.
(CWGC records that Gunner Fred Wesson, regimental number 7821, died aged 32 on 8/8/1917 serving in 321st Siege Battery of the Royal Garrison Artillery, and is now buried in grave XIV.B.1 at Voormezeele Enclosure No3 in Belgium, having been reinterred after the War. They record him as the son of John and Elizabeth Wesson of 60 Eastgate, Peterborough.
His birth was registered in 1886 in Peterborough District as "Fred Wesson". On the 1901 census he was living with his parents John and Elizabeth at 14 South Street, Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was serving in Bermuda & Jamaica as a Trumpeter in 66th Company of the Royal Garrison Artillery.
His Medal Index Card recorded him as Fred Wesson, and that he had served as a Trumpeter before becoming a Gunner; he was posted to France on 7/3/1915).
