Notes
This 1994 version of the Roll of Honour includes 'G Southwell', whose details it transcribed verbatim from the original version of the Roll that had been compiled in 1921. Both versions recorded him as 'G Southwell' of Silver Street, stating that he died of wounds as a Private in the 'London Scottish', none of which is accurate.
(CWGC has no record of any WW1 soldier named Southwell of the London Scottish Regiment; of the four G. Southwells on their WW1 casualty register, none has any connection to Peterborough).
The 'G. Southwell' listed on both versions of the Roll was actually Richard George Southwell, whose inclusion on them originated from the mistaken belief that he had died during WW1. He actually served in the 2/10th Scottish Battalion of the King's Liverpool Regiment, and survived the First World War.

Richard George Southwell's birth was registered in the Peterborough District in 1887. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents, Richard and Emma, at 53 Silver Street, Fletton, Peterborough; his place of birth was given as Woodston, Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was recorded as "George Southwell", lodging at 4 Cornstall Buildings in Stamford, and working as an engineer fitter; his parents were still living at 53 Silver Street.
The Army Pension file of Richard George Southwell records that he was aged 29, living at 50 Boundary Lane in Liverpool and working as a fitter when he enlisted on 13/11/1916 as a Private in the 2/10th (Scottish) Battalion of the King's Liverpool Regiment, giving his next of kin as his father Richard of 53 Silver Street, Peterborough, His regimental number was initially 9382, but later changed to 358996. The Army file records that Richard served in the UK until 12/4/1917, when he was posted to France. On 30/11/1917 he was posted as missing, and was later discovered to have been taken Prisoner of War on that day. [On 2/2/1918 the Peterborough Standard announced that 'Pte G. Southwell' of the Liverpool Scottish Regiment was a Prisoner of War]. He was repatriated to England on 3/12/1918, and later demobilized on 10/3/1919, giving his intended address as 53 Silver Street, Peterborough. At the time he was demobbed he was suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. His Army file records that he was living at 11 Bright Street in Peterborough on 21/11/1919 when he was awarded a pension for his disability, which the Army deemed to have been due to the effects of exposure to gas during the war.
Having been severely disabled for the rest of his life, Richard George Southwell's Army pension file records that he died aged 78 on 1/10/1965, from pulmonary tuberculosis that was attributable to his military service.

It appears probable that Richard George Southwell's status as "missing in action"/ capture by the enemy during WW1 led to him being erroneously recorded as having 'died of wounds' on the Roll of Honour that was compiled in 1921, which was subsequently copied into the 1994 version of the Roll.
Ironically, whilst Richard's inclusion on both versions of the Peterborough WW1 Roll of Honour originated from a false belief that he had died during the war, his death on 1/10/1965 was actually deemed by the Army to be attributable to his war service. (Under its Charter re WW1 casualties, CWGC only commemorates those from a Commonwealth military force or specified auxiliary organisation who died between 4 August 1914 and 31 August 1921).
