They record him as the son of Alice and Thomas Henry Rowe of 27 Orchard Street, New Fletton, Peterborough. Ernest's birth was mistakenly registered under the surname "Roe" in Peterborough District in 1894. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents Alice and Thomas Henry Rowe at 12 Tower Street in Fletton, Peterborough. On the 1911 census he was living with them at 27 Orchard Street, Peterborough. Soldiers Died in the Great War records him as a native of St Mary's parish, Peterborough who enlisted in Oundle. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that his father Thomas was his legatee).
