Notes
The Roll lists his address as Garton End. It correctly records the spelling of his surname (as his birth was registered in 1878 as "George Thomas Keely"), but the spelling varied in different records. It inaccurately stated that he died serving in the 3rd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment.
(CWGC originally recorded that Private "George Thomas Keeley", regimental number 3/10139, died aged 38 on 14/3/1915 serving in 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial in France; they originally recorded him as the son of Robert and Sarah Keeley of Newark and the husband of Agnes Keeley of Garton End, Peterborough. Having recently been alerted to the misspelling, CWGC's online record now correctly spells the surname as 'Keely'. Soldiers Died in the Great War recorded him as George Thomas Keely, who it inaccurately described as a native of Whittlesey; it recorded that he died serving in the 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment. The Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects recorded him as "George Thomas Keeley", that he died between 10th and 14th March 1915 serving in the 2nd Battalion, and that his widow Agnes was his legatee. He was recorded on the Medal Rolls under the surname "Keely"; his 1914 Star, British and Victory medals were issued under the 2nd Battalion. George Thomas Keely was born in 1878. On the 1881 census he was living with his parents Robert and Sarah Keely in Stanground, which they stated was George's place of birth. When he married Agnes Howes on 25/12/1906 at Peterborough All Saints' Church his name was entered in the marriage register as "George Keely". On the 1911 census George and Agnes Keely were living at Garton End; his parents Robert and Sarah were living in Eye Road, Newark).
