Notes
The Roll lists his address as 137 New England. It misrecords his surname as "Forman"; his true surname was Foreman.
(CWGC records that Lance Corporal George Foreman, regimental number 18212, died aged 28 on 16/9/1916 while serving in the 6th Battalion of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, and is commemorated on Thiepval Memorial in France. They record him as the son of Mr & Mrs David Foreman of 13 Star Road, Peterborough, and the husband of Ethel Best (formerly Foreman) of 43 Stockill Road, Doncaster. His birth was registered as 'George Foreman' in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire in 1888. On the 1901 census he was living with his parents at 112 Star Road, Peterborough; on the night of the 1911 census he was recorded as being on duty at the Great Northern Railway's Fire Station on Bridge Terrace in Hexthorpe, Doncaster. He married Ethel Coates on 25/12/1911 at St Paul's Church in Peterborough. All these events recorded his surname as Foreman, as do all his surviving Army documents, including the Medal Rolls that indicate he went to France on 21/5/1915).
