Notes
The Roll of Honour lists his address as Hills Yard, Bridge Street, and that he was entitled to the 1914 Star medal. It wrongly lists his regimental number as 7948.
(CWGC records that Private James Richard Eldridge, regimental number 9748, died on 14/9/1914 while serving in 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Stone 20.A of La Ferte Sous Jouarre Memorial in France. His military records all record James' regimental number as 9748; the Army Registers of Soldiers' Effects record that he died "on or since 14/9/1914", and that his father Richard was his legatee).
