The Roll lists his address as Victoria Terrace, Cobden Street, and that he received the 1914 Star medal. It incorrectly spelt his forename as "Richard" (as did the Army) and his surname as Butteris.

(CWGC records that Private Richard Henry Butteriss, regimental number 7523, died aged 27 on 17/9/1914 while serving in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, and is commemorated on Stone 20 of La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial in France; they record him as the son of Josiah & Elizabeth Butteriss of 70 Star Road, Peterborough. He is also recorded as Richard Butteriss in Soldiers Died in the Great War. His birth in Exmoor, Cambridgeshire was registered in 1887 as "Richman Henry Butteriss", and he appeared on the 1911 census as such, living with his parents at 70 Star Road; at the time, he was serving as a Private in the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment).
