Notes
The Roll of Honour wrongly records that a Lance Corporal Joseph Beecroft Brown died on 26/11/1918 while serving in the Royal West Kent Regiment. In fact, the man whose death it was referring was actually Joseph Beecroft Exton, who died on 8/11/1918, and is recorded on the Roll under those correct details.

(Joseph Beecroft Exton, born in 1883, was the son of Sarah Ann nee Beecroft and James Exton, who had married in 1873. Joseph Exton's Army service file records that he was living at 3 Hankey Street in Peterborough, with his wife Eliza and their three daughters, when he enlisted as a Private in the Royal West Kent Regiment on 8/7/1916; his regimental number was 16557. He served in France with the 1st Battalion from 8/12/1916 to 26/10/1917; when he returned to France on 19/3/1918 he was posted to the 6th Battalion, in which he was appointed Lance Corporal on 6/9/1918. He died in Trouville Hospital in France of influenza/pneumonia on 8/11/1918; the Army file records that one of Joseph's siblings was named Ethel Brown. CWGC records that Lance Corporal J. Exton of the 6th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment was buried in grave VII.A.8 at Tourgeville Military Cemetery in France. As Joseph Beecroft Exton is recorded on the Peterborough Roll of Honour under his correct surname, the reason for mistaken entry for him under the surname Brown is unknown).
