Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide his service details and the fact he died of pneumonia after flu at 57 General Hospital in Marseilles. A member of this church's choir, he had been a butcher at the Sowerby Bridge Co-Op before enlisting in January 1916 and served in both France in May 1916 and Italy in November 1917 before his death. The gravestone in which he is commemorated is of his parents, Thomas and Mary Ann.
