The memorial states he worked as a Clerk at Sowerby Bridge. Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra detail. He went missing on 27th May, 1918 - the date they list as the day he died. The memorial states August 14th which they say was the date his death was confirmed. He is also commemorated on IWM 2860 and in Sowerby Bridge Cemetery (presumably on a family gravestone) where, erroneously, his date of death is given as August 1916.
