Hornshaw and Fowler (see References) provide the extra detail and clarify his regiment (CWGC agrees). They state that he worked as a weaver and was a married man who had enlisted into the DLI in July 1916 transferring to the Tyneside Irish (Northumberland Fusiliers). He is also commemorated on IWM 2224.
