The Mevagissey Museum (see References) provides his service and death details and the following biographical information: 'Charles was born on 19th August 1918 in Mevagissey, to Alfred William MILLS and Mary Ann MILLS (Nee DYER). At the time of his death, he was shown to still be living with his parents at 7 Myrtle Court, Mevagissey.
His brother, Alfred William MILLS, Naval Auxiliary Personnel (Merchant Navy), also died on service 7th March 1946.'
Charles was killed aboard H.M.T TOPAZE following a collision with the British battleship H.M.S RODNEY.
