Notes
The unit is almost certainly a transcription error for "C. Gds" (Coldstream Guards) - other members of the Grenadier Guards have been annotated as "Gren. Gds" on this memorial. In addition, Private A.J. Lawton, whose parents are detailed as residents of Stafford, is listed as serving with 1st Battalion of the Coldstream Guards on the CWGC database.
