According to the website Exploring Surrey's Past (see References) 'Youssif Ali has various spellings of his name, including Yousif and Yousef. He was born in Sylhet, India (now in Bangladesh) and at the outbreak of the Second World War he enlisted in the RAF Volunteer Reserve. He died in 1947 and is also buried in the Muslim Burial Ground section at Brookwood Cemetery (his grave stone reads ‘Y. Ali’. His daughter, Sophene Alison Chisembele, has placed his small collection of papers with Surrey History Centre (Surrey History Centre reference 9555).'
