The memorial lists him as having served in both the Royal Navy and the 5th Lincolnshires: the CWGC has no man by this name serving and dying in those services/regiment but does list a James Frederick, who died on 1st March 1917 serving in the Rifle Brigade and who is buried in Little Coates. It is assumed this is he as CWGC says he was 53 which would tally with the listing as James 'Senior'. (CWGC has no record of the Junior listed on this memorial as having died).
