Notes
Hornshaw and Fowler provide the extra details. He was a member of the Hebden Bridge Liberal Club before the war. Whilst serving, he developed an infection which was first diagnosed as laryngitis: he was then discharged as unfit in February 1916. He returned home, worked for a few weeks in his father's tinplate works but relapsed and died. He is buried in this churchyard and Hornshaw and Fowler did not identify him on any other Calderdale memorial.
