Hornshaw and Fowler provide the service and death details. The son of the vicar of Southowram, he was educated at Rishworth School and worked at the Yorkshire Post newspaper before enlisting in 1915. Wounded in 1917, he then became an Intelligence Officer before being killed by shellfire. He is also commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial and on Memorial 2756 at this church.
